ADMINISTRATOR REVIEWS ARRANGEMENTS IN THE CITY
Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over Daily War Room meeting. The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser, UT, Chandigarh and Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police at Raj Bhawan. The Administrator also interacted with Sh. Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services and Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.

• The Administrator showed concern about new active cases which have cropped up in Chandigarh, but was satisfied to note that the Chandigarh doubling of the new cases was at the 25.4 days. The Administrator directed the Deputy Commissioner to identify specific pockets in the city, where new outbreak of corona has occurred, so that the Administration can focus on sealing the specific area. He desired that some local residents should be appointed as Special Police Officers to regulate entry and exit into the area alongwith concerned police officials. He also sought the help of local residents’ organizations and public representatives including ward members to keep this area fully sealed and sanitized.
• The Administrator decided to provide 6670 registered construction workers an amount of Rs.3,000/- as a special relief, keeping in view their present unemployment during the lockdown period. This amount will be in addition to Rs.3,000/- already sanctioned earlier out of Construction Labour Welfare Fund. The amount will be transferred to the accounts of the workers directly.
• The Administrator directed the Adviser to take up the matter with Government of India regarding payment of wages for the workers by the industrialists, out of ESI contributions already made.
• The Administrator directed that a special camp be held exclusively for testing of the media personnel to prevent any chance of infection. He stated that this is for the own good of Journalists that they should come forward and avail this facility and also download Aarogya Setu App.
• The Administrator directed Principal Secretary Health, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta to ensure that adequate quantity of blood should be available in all hospitals. He suggested that mobile team could go to collect blood from the willing donors. Necessary blood donor certificates be given to those donating blood. He advised Principal Secretary Health to seek the help of NGOs and Charitable Organizations like Rotary and Lions Clubs.
• Dr. G. Dewan, Director Health Services stated that 8.65 lac people have been screened till date by the mobile medical team to detect any symptomic cases. He also stated that necessary fogging is being done in various parts of the city. As per directions of Government of India, all SARI, ILI cases are to be tested from now onwards.
• Sh. K K Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation stated that medical screening of all vendors and hawkers have been completed. He also stated that the water problem in Hallomajra is being solved by repairing the tubewell.
• Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner stated that 1,19,805 cooked food packets have been distributed among the destitutes and needy persons in various parts of the city. Administrator is grateful to all the Self Help Groups, NGOs, Gurdwaras, Temples etc. for contribution and helping for the above.
• Sh. Vinod P. Kavle stated that 17,000 families have been distributed wheat and pulses under PMGKAY.
• Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser stated necessary orders regarding containment zone have been issued. A request has been sent to Punjab and Haryana Government and also the Union Government to open only essential offices with minimal staff. He also stated that the Registrar of Punjab and Haryana High Court has been informed about the imposition of the curfew in the area for containing the spread of COVID-19.
• The Administrator wishes all the residents on the Ramadan Festival. An appeal is made to all to adhere to regulations while celebrating the Ramadan month.
